Shipton Quilters 2014 Exhibition

After a hard days work yesterday Shipton is about to open its doors to our 2014 Exhibition.
The venue is just superb, set in beautiful rolling Cotswold country side with views to die for.
You will find a whole mixture of ages and talents and i will give you a few photos to tempt you along over the weekend.

Rendcomb College, nr Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

Getting ready in the Orangery. Fortunately for the team that set up this room one of them has a son and his girlfriend that work in the industry of setting up concerts and events.
All the quilts in his room you can see from every angle with no frames to trip up as you walk through.
As I walked round just before the finish last night a gentle breeze came through the room and the quilts just fluttered like they were on the washing line.

More of a Little House on the Prairie theme going on this room.
The Entrance Hall. An Easter theme by this team. Oh look chocolate Easter bunnies to eat.

In another area you will find a room full of English and American antique quilts.
Lots of traders will be on hand to help you spend your money and of course we have a great raffle with the first prize being our lovely raffle quilt.

See you there!!!

Philippa Naylor

Its really been such a long time that I posted that I almost forgot how to post  but after struggling with the inactivity of the blog  through blogger I hope this is all going to work out.

We have just had the most fantastic couple of days with Philippa Naylor.
She gave a talk to the group and guest's on Wednesday evening followed by a wonderful workshop the following day of Free Motion Feathers.

Philippa showed us  a few of her quilts at the end of the talk , I say a few quilts as that's is what we saw. This is because Philippa has won  so many awards at Houston and Paducah that AQS have purchased them.

She makes us proud to be British when she has some many of quilts living in Museum's  in  the USA . You might say they  certainly know a good thing when they see it.

Philippa is an exceptional teacher,  warm,  friendly with a wonderful generous spirit and sense of humour.
We all had a fun filled day and now its just practise practise practise so that we hopefully do her teaching skills proud!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Philippa from us all at Shipton Quilters.
P.S thanks also for the tip on how to keep our lipstick on ALL DAY.
We might all be walking about with Ruby Red lips from now on.

Shipton Charity Quilt

Sue M and I started getting the Charity quilt together yesterday.
It went together fairly easily with just some easing here and there and think so far its looking good.

We just have to decide on setting triangles and a border and then it can be sandwiched up reading for quilting.

On Saturday Clare Kingslake came to Shipton to give us a lovely fun relaxing day making a small mini quilt called Perfect Petals.

Everyone really enjoyed the day and at the end we had all accomplished the beginnings of our own Perfect Petals
Thanks Clare.
