The Tent Makers of Cairo
We had a fascinating evening with Barbara Chainey last night when she talked about the Tent Makers of Cairo. She has wonderful examples of their work and to think it is all done by men! All very family orientated with the trade being passed down through the generations father to son. The boys start learning the trade as early as eight years old.
It was very evident Barbara's love of these textiles and as she seems to return to Egypt yearly she has amassed a huge amount of wonderful treasure that she shared with us.
Thank you Barbara for an extremely interesting talk . I am sure at lot of members will be adding The Tent Makers of Egypt to their Bucket Lists after seeing your textiles.
