Shipton Quilter Journal Quilt Challenge

At our meeting last night Jenny announced our group challenge for the coming year, to do a year's worth of Journal Quilts - one for each month.

I hope all the members will join in and let their imagination and inspiration run wild.  Below are the details for the challenge

Requirements

Each Journal Quilt should include one element, a fabric or other material, that has a former life in some way.

Explain what it was used for- example ..a Jeans pocket from old Jeans that do not fit, fragments from a Wedding Dress, small pieces of curtain fabric that clashed with your decor, or you could even choose..straws, plastic bags, paper from magazines, beads, sequins,  etc.

Journal Quilts can use traditional techniques such as.. Needle turn, Applique, piecing, embroidery.. in fact anything you like.

Each Journal Quilt should be A4 size

Binding your quilt is not essential but you could finish the edges with ribbon, couched cord or decorative machine quilting, or blanket stitch.

 Ongoing rules:

 1.     Complete one Journal Quilt for each of the twelve months starting in October.

2.     You must use three layers.

3.     Please keep to the designated size (A4).

4.     Write a statement for each Journal Quilt stating your source of inspiration and materials/techniques used.

You can display your Journal Quilts all together as a wall quilt, or separate in a lever arch file, or how you wish.

Above all HAVE FUN WITH IT!
